The Mission

Reinvent how humans connect by creating close-knit, welcoming communities of (students) where everyone feels a strong sense of belonging and is empowered to support and inspire one another.

Problem

Everyone longs for connection, belonging, and community, as they are intrinsic human needs. As collaborative beings, humans thrive when they feel part of a close-knit community where everyone supports and inspires each other. The world is undergoing a significant transformation, changing how communities are formed and sustained. With the rapid shift toward a digital reality, the essential human need for physical and personal connection is increasingly unmet. Social media and similar platforms have driven the formation of virtual communities, which often prioritize consumption over genuine connection. These communities exist primarily in the digital world and struggle to provide the fulfillment that comes from real-life, personal interactions. The increasing shift to online work environments has reduced opportunities for face-to-face interactions, weakening community bonds among workers and isolating individuals from their peers. Traditionally, workplaces have served as significant community hubs. However, the rise of automation through AI and robotics is not only transforming jobs but also dismantling the community structures tied to them. People losing their jobs may also lose the sense of connection and belonging that their work environments provide. We need to bring communities back into the physical reality and make them continuously adaptable to the ever-changing dynamics.

The Solution

We started with students in Groningen. We produce media meant to make people feel inspired, happy, and empowered. In doing so, we establish an online community. Afterward, we organize meticulously planned exhilarating events. Such events connect the online community to the physical reality and establish a broad community. Thereafter, we redirect attendees to the “Integration” and “Clubs” systems, allowing them to create their own mini-circles within Amicus. This creates a funnel drawing the online community into a more personal, member-driven society, ultimately enabling individuals to connect with others who share similar interests and provide new perspectives. We facilitate this by providing a supportive audience and funding to help their passions thrive.
